Coping with Uncertainty: What’s Your Go-To When Life Wobbles?

Life has a funny way of pulling the rug out from under us.
And when that happens, coping with uncertainty becomes a deeply personal journey.

In this reflection, I want to explore the ways we react when life feels unstable—and how to meet ourselves with care when everything starts to wobble.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything on the outside feels like it’s falling apart – and yet, somehow, a quiet part of you stays calm?

It took me years to find that part of myself.

The one that knows how to ride the waves without becoming them.

In the past, I’d panic. Try to fix, control, do. Anything to avoid sitting in the discomfort.

And I’ll be honest – sometimes I still catch myself doing it. Trying to plan things. Doing your best to avoid the hard conversations or the awkward moments. Trying to keep it all neat and tidy so I don’t have to feel the chaos.

I remember when my marriage was ending, I knew there were conversations I needed to have. Tough ones. The kind that shake you to your core.

And oh, I tried to plan them. Rehearsed them in my head. You ever done that? Run through an entire conversation in your mind – only for it to come out completely differently in real life?

Because let’s face it – the other person never quite sticks to the script, do they?

What I’ve come to realise is this: Peace isn’t found in having it all together. It’s found in how I hold myself when everything starts to unravel.

In practising the pause before reacting. It’s in choosing presence over panic. It’s in coming back to myself.

And sometimes, that looks like energy work. Other times, it’s as simple as a cup of tea and a long walk in nature.

Your Turn:

What brings you back to yourself when the world spins too fast?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments – or simply take a moment today to pause and reconnect with the stillness that lives within you.

With love,
